6 Reasons Why We Bought Peterbilt’s For Dump Truck Rentals
For the last 83 years, Peterbilt has been a major contributor to the worldwide dump truck market.
In 1934, T.A. Peterman -the company’s founder- acquired nearly 30,000 acres of land on the West Coast of the USA, rather than utilizing trains as many did back in the day he built roads and acquired a fleet of Peterbilt’s For Dump Trucks after purchasing White Motor Company.
Many of the trucks required refurbishment from their previous military utility in order to function well as logging equipment. Peterman saw the untapped market potential for work trucks and began Peterbilt in 1939. Ever since, the company has become a household name in regards to safety, work efficiency, versatility, and reliability.
Utility
“Rugged, Reliable, and Rewarding.” Vocational work trucks often come with a wide range of options, and the Peterbilt 567 is no different. Our dump trucks rentals feature heated boxes to keep our product warm, vibrational capabilities that shorten our dump times considerably, as well as load sensors so our drivers know exactly how much they’re hauling at any time.
Safety
Sloped for increased visibility, the 3 piece metton (a liquid molding resin) hood is constructed with aerodynamics in mind as well as impact resistance on the Model 567. Maintaining good visuals of the road and job site is imperative for our dump truck rental drivers which makes the panoramic windshield and backup camera a no-brainer in our final decision. Side visibility was improved upon in the 2013 model by placing the side mirrors closer to the cab itself and has only continued to improve over the years.
The 567 is integrated with Bendix® Wingman® Fusion™ (heralded as the next-generation in advanced safety technologies) which “gathers input from radar, video and the brake system to create a highly detailed and accurate data picture.” The Bendix® system features stationary object alerts, active cruise with braking, distance alerts, enhanced collision mitigation, lane departure warning, and more. All this to say is that our drivers can rely on the trucks and the new updated systems should anything go wrong on the road.
Technology
Technology has come so far in the years since Peterbilt’s inception and we wanted to ensure our dump truck rentals were no exception.
“The digital display becomes the focal point for driver information, minimizing distractions while driving,” says Skoog, general manager, Peterbilt. The 567 sports a fully digital dash with a customizable user interface display which ensures that all of our drivers see exactly what they need to get the job done.
The Peterbilt 567 is integrated with SmartLINQ remote diagnostic technology. With an easy-to-use web-based portal, it allows us to monitor our fleet’s health through more than 750 engine and diagnostic codes to maximize uptime and keep the trucks moving at peak performance day and night.
Centre of Gravity
The Peterbilt 567 features Paccar Heavy Duty FX-20 Steer Axle, industry-leading for its durability. A Set-Forward front axle position 17.5 inches closer to the front of the truck, compared to industry standards of other dump truck manufacturers, allows for a better centre of gravity as well as payload balancing which is very important when our dump trucks are out on the road or at the job site.
“The Model 567 is a low-weight leader and this new configuration will let customers take full advantage of that through optimized weight distribution,” said Robert Woodall, Peterbilt Assistant General Manager of Sales and Marketing.
Driver Comfort
On the road, it is important for our dump truck drivers to feel secure and comfortable. With the Peterbilt 567’s 2.1 metres wide, sound dampened cabin and modern dash the new 2022 truck achieves just that. The aluminum fabrication of the cab is enhanced with steel A-pillars and corner reinforcements for that all-important stability and strength, giving our drivers confidence everywhere they go.
Expanded PTO controls, as well as an ergonomic, wrap-around cabin layout, means our drivers have the tools to succeed within their grasp at all times.
Under the Hood
The Peterbilt 567 Dump Truck Rental features a Cummings X15 (a powerful but efficient) engine, boasting a generous 525-565 horsepower and 1,850 foot-pounds (ft⋅lb) of torque. The X15 was built with fuel economy in mind, providing an improvement of up to 2%. And to ensure that everyone is safe, reducing wear on the service brakes and replacement costs.
The Single-Module™ Aftertreatment System allows for extended maintenance intervals meaning that our dump trucks are on the road for longer periods of time, increasing our efficiency.
